February Red Theme

1. I picked this particular image over the other images because I felt that this image sufficiently articulated red; as the apple is the only object in focus. The apple is crisp and is the dominant object in the image.

2. In order to succesfully capture this image, I setup a tripod behind this ornament on my kitchen table and  strategically positioned my camera so that the sun is highlighting the apple as it is the only object in the image that is in focus. Before capturing this photo, I changed my camera to the 'manual' setting as well as the white balance to 'shade' so that the image has a yellow tone to it, bringing out the red in the apple. Although it was very sunny, I set my aperture to the lowest aperture being 1.8 and I changed the shutter speed to 1/500.

3. The apple stands out most in this photo when you first see it as it is the only object in the image that is in focus.

4. The curves of the apple leads your eyes around the image from place to place.

5. I could name this image 'Big Apple' for obvious reasons, but also due to the significance of the large red apple also representing red for the month of February.
